About Us

Owner Albert Grant has a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from the University of Connecticut. This creative background lends itself well to visualized design and construction with an artist's eye for detail.

After graduation Albert worked in a variety of graphic design positions. An opportunity came along to work in a small custom woodshop which specialized in loft spaces in Manhattan. He found it gratifying to have an impact on the physical setting of a living space. The small size of the shop meant he was involved in all aspects of the work. After a couple of years he set out on his own, keeping the philosophy that a small shop is rewarding in its' variety and range of work with an artisan approach.

He has now been in business for over 30 years.

The location of the shop in East Windsor, in north central Connecticut, places the business strategically for servicing all of Connecticut including Fairfield County, also much of Massachusetts including Boston, Long Island, Manhattan, and upper state NY, although he has traveled as far as Virginia. He has also shipped items to more distant locations.

We have done work for many clients over years and subsequent homes. This repeat business is very gratifying and we feel it is a testament to our business practices that they keep coming back.

The four person shop is located on a family-owned 19th century farm in the village of Melrose, town of East Windsor, in north central Connecticut where you will also find sheep, chickens, horses and hay fields.

The skilled team understands what is needed to produce high quality work and takes pride in working to high standards.

Albert is also involved in open space and conservation and energy issues locally.

Our homegrown charm comes with a craftsman's desire to create a custom woodworking project that can please the most discriminating tastes. The shop is well equipped with everything needed to make handcrafted projects that range from modern to historical reproduction, and from traditional to artistic.

If you can think it, I can make it.
